The Manuscript Dating System
OmnitextTM is an interactive tool that helps students and researchers learn to read and date ancient manuscripts. The process starts with an Omnitext model of a domain of any language and style of handwriting script. Then users may compare an undated manuscript against the model to learn to read manuscripts and produce a date and various reports. Omnitext has recently been integrated with the Virtual Manuscript Room at the INTF, where students and researchers have the ability to make detailed comparisons of minuscule manuscripts to the Omnitext model, called correlations. Omnitext has a patent pending with international license. For a demonstration of the process, email Dr. Pat Sanders at info@omnitext.org. The list of dated minuscule manuscripts used to create its base model is available here.
